The United Kingdom is a country in a serious mess. There is a cost of living crisis, household bills are rising, the cost of food and basics have shot up, and our departure from the European Union has led to the loss of freedom of movement, loss of being in the common market and customs union, increasing queues at air and sea ports and holidays had been cancelled at short notice… and yet the Conservatives remain in office.
Prime minister Boris Johnson has been forced to reshuffle is cabinet after two MPs, Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid both resigned as chancellor and health scretary respectively. Several other MPs have quit lower ranking ministerial posts. Others have openly called for Johnson to go.
This has been a cabinet of chaos, with unprincipled ministers only interested in one thing…being in power. They brown-nosed Johnson and put up with his lies for so long. It’s amazing that there are a significant number of people in this country will continue to give the Conservative government the benefit of the doubt. It’s clear that Johnson is clinging on to the top job, but when he is eventually forced out (!), who can replace him? According to commentators, there are likes of Dominic Raab, Johnson’s number two, Liz Truss and Michael Gove…it’s a real terrifying prospect.
The only good thing for the Conservatives at this time is that the political opposition against them remains heavily divided.
