When is the public going to start rising up in anger against the ongoing collective stench that’s coming out of the Houses of Parliament? No matter what happens when our supposedly elected MPs continue to break rules which they set for both themselves and the general public, there seems to be a collective shrug.
Conservative Owen Paterson resigned his seat representing North Shropshire for allegedly breaking lobbying rules. Instead of his facing suspension, the government wanted to change the rules instead. Understandably, the backlash which followed, including some personal issues, led to him resigning today.
Meanwhile, former Labour MP Claudia Webbe was given a suspended ten-week jail sentence after being earlier found guilty of harrassment. Despite this, she remains the MP for Leicester East, despite being suspended from Labour party and won’t reisgn.
The UK is suffering from the after-effects of the issues caused as a result of the failure of parliament to tackle both the coronavirus pandemic and climate change with ongoing problems following the country’s departure from the European Union.
Both Boris Johnson and Sir Keir Starmer lead two stench-ridden political parties, and while they stay in charge nothing will happen. So it’s up to us…. unless we stop moaning on social media and actually start collectively organising protests, and at election times, put up independent candidates to challenge the political parties, the country’s slow decline will continue.
