The new year has only been 18 days old, and it started right where 2012 ended…. badly.
Already we have seen yet another constant stream of bad news. The recession in the UK has deepened with the likes ofBlockbuster, HMV and Jessops stores all going under and jobs being lost, with more under threat. Controversial benefit changes to be introduced later this year will mean that more people will be more out of pocket, leading to widening social inequality (it seems that the lessons from the recent riots still haven’t been learned). Allegations of politicians… and bankers… continuing to raid the public purse…. again. Prime Minister David Cameron is once again on the rack (from the media) over the European Union. Then there is the collective nervous breakdown over the issue of horsemeat in frozen burgers on supermarket shelves…. and of course, the snow, which, at present, is causing disruption across the country. One wonders why there hasn’t been any angry protests at Westminster!!!
The rest of the world may continue to be laughing at us… except that it has long stopped being a joke.
