Many Londoners who missed the old Routemaster buses may love the new-look model.
London Mayor Boris Johnson and Transport for London also plan to bring back conductors on those routes. However, they are going to find it very difficult in getting them into service in 2012 as scheduled when significant budget cuts have already been made in the capital’s transport budget, and that may have affected plans on how to come with the massive influx of visitors going to the Olympics. They will also face the problem of continued annual fare rises, which may affect their chances of encouraging people back onto public transport. I prevously blogged on the poor state of the Underground, where staffing and funding-related issues have led to strikes across the network.
Oh, well, at least we’re getting rid of those awful bendy buses.
