The cricket authorities are considering their options after the recent terrorist attack in Lahore, in which gunmen had opened fire at a coach carrying the Sri Lanka national team in the city of Lahore.
As a result, the current test match with hosts Pakistan was scrapped, but the fear is such that the heightened political tensions in that country will make it even harder for other national cricket, and indeed other sporting sides to consider going on tour there in the immediate future.
For the sake of cricket, and of all sport in general, the show must go on, even after a delay. There are genuinely decent people in Pakistan who may want this to happen, to show defiance to the terrorists who aim to disrupt their daily lives. Let us stand shoulder to shoulder with them to ensure that the militants never win.
