Last night, most of the (allegedly) great and the good of British acting came the BAFTAs, to celebrate yet another annoying year of backslapping, and awarding useless prizes.
The heavily-overhyped film, Slumdog Millionaire, when seven prizes including best film. I don’t know why though- most Brits would never go to their local cinema to watch that. Better to bring in more Hollywood blockbusters.
I don’t understand why the organisers of the BAFTAs would want to make the event even more self-important than it actually is. Compared to the OSCARS, it is very amateurish. The media may care for it, but to the average Brit, they really don’t give a damn. Surely it’s time to relegate the BAFTAs to its rightful place…. to be held after the excellent OSCARS.
