One of the presenters of the popular BBC TV show Top Gear has apologised for making a personal remark about Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
Jeremy Clarkson called Brown, ” a one-eyed Scottish idiot” during a long rant in which he had also had a go at the Australians, calling them “apes”.
This incident is seen as yet another embarrassment to the BBC, after they sacked Carol Thatcher, daughter of the former PM Margaret Thatcher, from the flagship topical programme, The ONE Show, after she allegedly made a racist remark about a black tennis player , referring him to “a gollywog”.
While I think the ‘gollywog’ remark as offensive, it wasn’t done on-air, so Ms Thatcher shouldn’t have been sacked. However, I don’t see anything offensive about Clarkson calling Brown ” a one-eyed Scottish idiot” because he was bluntly saying in public what most people (including most Labour MPs) often murmur in private.
Clarkson shouldn’t apologise any more about Brown. He should keep insulting him, mostly on his economic policies, because soon, he…. and the Labour government… will soon be thrown out by the trodden-on (for too long) British public.
