Researchers claim that playing the computer game Tetris can reduce the effects of traumatic stress.
According to this report, volunteers were given the game to play. Results showed that people who played the game had suffered fewer ‘flashbacks’ because it had probably helped disrupt the laying down of memories of sad events in their lives.
No disrespect to this highly valuable research, but this to me seems to be read like a tabloid news headline. There are plenty of ways for people to tackle trauma, but playing Tetris would be the last thing on their minds…
