In an interview with the Radio Times magazine, Brian True-May said the police drama, Midsomer Murders, was he described as ‘a last bastion of Englishness’ in current-day Britain….and argued that it should stay that way. read more

A Conservative party councillor goes on Twitter and pokes fun at newspaper columnist Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, calling for her to be “stoned to death”. She was offended by the remark, regarding the statement as “an incitement to murder”. At the present time, the councillor has been suspended by his party.
What is happening to us? It is now extremely difficult (unless one is a either terrorist or an extremist) for people to poke fun out of others or to make strong statements, no matter how bad or ill-informed they can be, about what is going on in the world. Many column inches in newspapers and on blogs have been written about this very minor spat. Meanwhile, we continue to turn a blind eye to the real problems facing Britain….
