England’s cricket team will never be really be top

England’s cricket team beat India to become the number one ranked test (five-day game) side in the world. They’ve played well to beat the current World Cup champions, but in my and most other opinion, they will never be the best.

Plucky Brit tennis player Andy Murray chokes yet again at the hand of defending champion Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon today, therefore ensuring that the long wait for a British Grand Slam success at home and away continues.

Overrated football club gets relegated…so what?

Manchester United secured a record 19th top-flight title, a massive achievement. Local rivals City win the FA Cup. Both genuine successes, and worthy of congratulations from the sports press.

Yet nearly all the news has been dominated in the last few days by the problems at West Ham United, who were relegated from the Premier League after they lost to Wigan on Sunday.

A double celebration for Manchester

The city of Manchester will be the focus of a double celebration tonight.

United have made history by winning a record 19th top-flight title after they drew 1-1 with Blackburn. Meanwhile, their rivals City beat Stoke 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Congratulations to them. My only gripe was that there were some Premier League matches on the same day as the cup final. The FA should do the decent thing and put the annual showpiece back after the regular season is over.
