Oh dear, not again….

The England football side’s hopes of progressing from the group stage of the World Cup in South Africa took another knock after a dull goalless draw with Algeria.

The team were rightly booed by the supporters in the stadium, and had been subjected to more ridicule in the media (Maybe because the match was covered by ITV). Manager Fabio Capello tried to look for excuses, while striker Wayne Rooney was seen TV to be attacking the fans for booing them, only to later apologise for his remark. It was a very disappointing display by England. Indeed, Algeria, sensing that their opponents were getting frustrated, grew stronger as the game wore on, but they failed to trouble David James in the England goal.

This was the ideal opportunity to put the USA game behind them, but they blew it. The pressure (?) will now be on Wednesday’s crucial decider against current group leaders Slovenia. Already there is talk of the Football Association putting Capello to the sword right after the game, whatever the result. Surely they should wait until the actual result, rather than pushing the panic button, as many Premiership team chairmen tend to do in similar situations.
