By-election could finish Brown as PM

Today’s by-election in the Scottish constituency of Glasgow East (caused by the resignation of David Marshall through ill-health) could signal the beginning of the end for both the Labour government and Gordon Brown as Prime Minister.

Their rivals in the by-election, the Scottish National Party, are favourites to take this once safe seat. Labour’s campaign has been dogged by the fact that the original candidate picked by the local party decided to pull out. Many other Labour members had decided it wasn’t worth the bother. Their hapless candidate, Margaret Curran, will do well to even get a decent number of votes.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown is set to be told more bad news…. and when it comes, the pressure on him from within Labour to resign will become even louder.

The dancing roadsweeper gets up my nose

To be honest, I’m getting really fed up of the dancing roadsweeper. I thought his job was to keep the streets clean, not by jumping around and messing about. Dancing Roadsweeper? More like Dancing Donkey!

Tory leader is a victim of (small) crime- so what?

The national media has collectively got their knickers in a twist over this one. Opposition leader David Cameron’s bike got stolen from outside his local Tesco supermarket in Portobello Road. It’s bad enough that some twat decided to steal the thing, it’s even worse when some newspapers repeatedly aim to exaggerate the incident. There are more important things to get angry about in Britain than some politician crying over a lost bike.

Bosnian warlord finally captured after 13 years on the run

Why is it that Radovan Karadzic is called a war criminal and yet Tony Blair isn’t? Why is the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom still a free man to do as he pleases? Why hasn’t he been indicted for war crimes in Iraq? Why the mainstream international double standards?

WHY HASN’T HE BEEN CALLED TO ACCOUNT FOR ‘HIS’ CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY?

Drivers who rely on 'satnavs' are stupid

Thank goodness I don’t drive. It’s bad enough that after you buy your car, you have to get it insured, get car tax, get a parking permit and fill it up will extremely expensive fuel before you can even drive it…. and yet when you want to go somewhere, you may rely on a satellite navigation system to get about.

Well, if you do, you could be putting other peoples’ lives at risk by following their instructions by the letter (or map) and neglecting basic road safety rules.

Shocking figures published in the Daily Mirror revealed:

  • Satnav devices are blamed for causing around 300,000 crashes.
  • Around 1.5million drivers suddenly veer dangerously or illegally into busy traffic while following directions.
  • Five million drivers have been sent up the wrong way down a one-way street.

The figures also reveal that 14million drivers use satnavs regularly, almost half of the total registered motorists in the UK. I suspect  many of the people that use them are basically so lazy they can’t be bothered to plan their journeys properly using a cheaper A-Z. Drivers cannot always blame a piece of technology for what is basically human error.
